Man charged with attempted murder, kidnapping in incident at Halton Hills group home

A Quebec man is charged with attempted murder after attempting to remove a relative from a group home in Halton Hills.
Police say a man entered a care home on Third Line and 32 Side Road just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday and became involved in an altercation with an employee at the residence.
The employee sustained a stab wound as the suspect left the house with his relative in a vehicle.
That vehicle was then involved in an accident near 32 Side Road and Fourth Line, which allowed officers to arrest the man, who attempted to flee by running away with their relative.
A rescuer had to be transported to hospital with serious injuries, while the family member, uninjured, was returned home safely.
The 36-year-old man from Quebec is also facing a hiatus and is filing the charge and kidnapping offense in connection with the incident.
Halton police did not identify the house or those involved, saying it was “due to the nature of the investigation and the relationships”.
