Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian tried to downplay some of the hype that took place on Saturday in their Week 2 game against Alabama.

About his old team, Sark said:

“My goal is to be in Dallas by December 3. This game has no influence on that. We have no influence on their entry into the SEC Championship. But it’s a great opportunity. Great setting for college football.”

The coach’s comments sparked viral reactions from the college football world.

“I really love it when a head coach treats a hugely hyped helmet game like a high school jamboree,” Justin Ferguson tweeted.

“Not something you would want to hear from your own coach, I guess,” replied Brett Greenberg.

“What kind of weak? [expletive] is this,” laughed Boot Krewe’s Mason Ginsberg.

“Sark in facing Bama: ‘death is an inevitability and I am willing to die,'” tweeted Bill DiFilippo.

“Oh dear,” said Adam Kramer.

The two traditional forces will face each other on FOX at noon ET.
